BC Wildfire Service

In addition to a team of permanent staff which includes safety and training personnel, wildfire and fuel management experts, support and administrative staff, the BC Wildfire Service employs approximately 1,600 seasonal personnel each year.

BC Wildfire Service is an Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program partner. The scholarship program includes a summer work placement (May-August) in one of the following locations:

  • Cariboo Fire Centre – Quesnel, Central Cariboo, 100 Mile House, Chilcotin
  • Coastal Fire Centre – Fraser, Pemberton, Sunshine Coast, South Island, Mid Island, North Island
  • Kamloops Fire Centre – Kamloops, Vernon, Penticton, Merritt, Lillooet
  • Northwest Fire Centre – Nadina, Bulkley, Skeena, Cassier
  • Prince George Fire Centre – Prince George, Robson, VanJam, Mackenzie, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Fort Nelson
  • Southeast Fire Centre – Cranbrook, Invermere, Columbia, Arrow Fire, Boundary, Kootenay Lake

The program provides Indigenous students with:

  1. Tuition and living scholarship
  2. Paid summer work-term experience and one-on-one mentorship with a program partner
  3. Support from your local Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISETP) centre

The Indigenous Forestry Scholarship is only available to residents of British Columbia.
