Western Forest Products Inc. is a fully integrated forest company, we are growing seed and seedlings at our forestry center in Saanichton, sustainably managing forest lands on Vancouver Island and the Mainland Coast, manufacturing wood products on Vancouver Island and Western Washington and selling high-quality, sustainable building products to markets around the world.

The successful candidate will join our team as a summer student at one of our Timberlands operations. Depending on your course of study, placements generally range between 4 and 8 months. You will get hands-on experience with a host of different silviculture and forest planning activities as well as the opportunity to explore other parts of our business. You will work closely with a mentor from our forestry staff as well as other foresters and many interesting people who can help you develop your forestry career.

Western Forest Products is an Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program partner. The scholarship program includes a summer work placement (May-August) in one of the following locations:

  • Port McNeill, BC
  • Woss, BC
  • Campbell River, BC
  • Gold River, BC
  • Port Alberni, BC
  • Powell River, BC

The program provides Indigenous students with:

  1. Tuition and living scholarship
  2. Paid summer work-term experience and one-on-one mentorship with a program partner
  3. Support from your local Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISETP) centre

The Indigenous Forestry Scholarship is only available to residents of British Columbia.
