BC Timber Sales

BC Timber Sales (BCTS) manages about 20 per cent of the province’s allowable annual cut for Crown/public timber, generating economic prosperity for British Columbians through the safe, sustainable development and auction of public timber. BCTS operates in 33 communities and directly supports over 8,000 jobs across B.C.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and natural resources, and for the protection of B.C.’s archaeological and heritage resources.

BC Timber Sales is an Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program partner. The scholarship program includes a summer work placement (May-August) in one of the following locations:

  • TBA – Babine Business Area - Burns Lake, Houston, Smithers
  • TCC - Cariboo-Chilcotin Business Area - Williams Lake, Quesnel
  • TCH - Chinook Business Area - Chilliwack, Village of Queen Charlotte (Queen Charlotte City), Powell River, Squamish
  • TKA - Kamloops Business Area - Kamloops, 100 Mile House, Clearwater, Merritt
  • TKO - Kootenay Business Area - Nelson, Castlegar, Cranbrook, Grand Forks
  • TOC - Okanagan-Columbia Business Area - Vernon, Revelstoke
  • TPL - Peace-Liard Business Area - Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John
  • TPG - Prince George Business Area - Prince George, Mackenzie
  • TST - Seaward/tlasta Business Area - Port McNeill
  • TSK - Skeena Business Area - Terrace, Hazelton
  • TSG - Strait of Georgia Business Area - Campbell River, Port Alberni
  • TSN - Stuart-Nechako Business Area - Vanderhoof, Fort St. James

The BC First Nations Forestry Council's Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program is designed to provide support for First NationsInuit, or Métis Descent students interested in attending full-time studies in a designated post-secondary institution. The program is delivered in partnership with BC Timber Sales (BCTS), BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), BC Office of the Chief Forester, Mosaic Forest Management, and Western Forest Products Inc., and the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISETP)..

The program provides Indigenous students with:

  1. Tuition and living scholarship
  2. Paid summer work-term experience and one-on-one mentorship with a program partner
  3. Support from your local Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISETP) center

The Indigenous Forestry Scholarship is only available to residents of British Columbia.
