As an apprentice, you learn while you earn and train under the supervision of an employer. The apprenticeship program combines on-the-job experience with formal technical training.
The Welding apprenticeship program will train you to become a skilled welder, leading towards Red Seal certification (after successful program and work based training hours completion).
As a welding student, most of your time will be spent in our shop. Welders are trained in and are capable of welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals in all positions, on both plate and pipe, using various welding processes.
The Welding Apprenticeship program is comprised of three levels of in-school technical training. Apprentices completing Level 1 and Level 2 technical training, and 3,000 work-based training hours are eligible for Certification from the Industry Training Authority (ITA). Apprentices who complete Level 3 are eligible to write their Interprovincial Red Seal exam on their last day of training.
Meld, attach, and affix pieces of metal together with precision and watch objects come to life in your hands. College of the Rockies offers all levels of Welder technical training, including Modular A, Modular B, and MPAW.
Steamfitters/Pipefitters lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain, repair and service equipment and piping systems carrying water, steam, fluids, gases, chemicals, and fuel in various systems such as heating, cooling, lubricating and process piping systems. The Steamfitter/Pipefitter program contains 4 levels that cover the in-school technical portion of the apprenticeship training. All levels of training use applied learning in conjunction with practical exercises.
