People Obtaining Workplace Employment Requirements

The People Obtaining Workplace Employment Requirements (POWER) program prepares students for entry into trades training and employment. Students will learn the essential skills required to begin training in trades programming, including mathematics and science, that a trades person uses every day. They will also learn personal skills in areas of communication, decision making, job search and study skills, common safety requirements, and hand and power tool identification and usage, that will prepare them for entry into a foundation level trades programs.

Millwright Foundation

Millwrights install, repair, overhaul and maintain machinery and heavy mechanical equipment, such as conveyor systems in diverse settings including repair shops, plants, construction sites, mines, logging operations, ski hills and most production and manufacturing facilities.

Millwright Certificate - Foundation

The Millwright Foundation Program consists of 24 weeks of foundation training and a 2 week practicum requirement and will provide the skills required for the student to obtain level 1 technical training. A Millwright is one who dismantles, moves, installs, changes layout, sets-up, repairs, overhauls and maintains all machinery and heavy mechanical equipment, including power shafting, pulleys, conveyors and hoists.

Millwright Certificate - Foundation

The Millwright Foundation Program consists of 24 weeks of foundation training and a 2 week practicum requirement and will provide the skills required for the student to obtain level 1 technical training. A Millwright is one who dismantles, moves, installs, changes layout, sets-up, repairs, overhauls and maintains all machinery and heavy mechanical equipment, including power shafting, pulleys, conveyors and hoists.
