Based in the beautiful Shuswap B.C. and reporting to the Woodlands Manager, the Forestry Supervisor role would carry out various field and office functions to meet the Woodlands Dept KPIs. This role has the flexibility to be designed with your interests in mind.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Practice safe work procedures and follow Stella-Jones workplace regulations and policies.
  • Comply with company Environmental Management System protocols.
  • Depending on your interests and experience, there is an opportunity to work in planning, development, harvest/roads supervision and/or silviculture. Experience in Woodlot management would also be asset.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other Woodlands employees towards common and individual goals.
  • Maintain tracking systems to accurately reflect current values and phases for reporting purposes.
  • Given the distance required to access some of our operating areas, longer field days will be required at times to maintain productivity.
  • Collaborate with EMS (Environmental Management Systems) and EH&S (Environment, Health and Safety) Coordinators to ensure compliance with and understanding of workplace regulations and policies.
  • Interact and maintain relationships with other business units and external contractors.
  • Work closely with the Woodlands Manager on managing current and long-term priorities while considering legal and financial objectives.
  • Actively track and manage project costs.
  • Use of Fieldmaps and Sitedocs to track fieldwork and assessments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, or Forest Technologist Diploma or equivalent program.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in BC Forestry Field and Administration, with RPF or RFT with FPBC.
  • Knowledge of forest practices, legislation and administration in British Columbia
  • Full phase development experience on conventional and cable ground
  • Valid driver’s license
  • ArcGIS Pro experience would be an asset
  • Waste and residue survey experience an asset
  • Timber Harvest /Silviculture Supervision experience an asset
