As an Electrician at Drax, you will be responsible for maintaining the plant’s electrical systems, providing both regular and routine support to all electrical equipment. You will work closely with the Operator, Maintenance team, and Automation team to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
Routine Daily Maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Maintain machines ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Install, inspect, and repair a variety of electrical equipment.
- Utilize work order systems.
- Collaborate with Millwrights and other trades to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Assist with non-electrical operational issues as needed.
Shutdown and Strategic Capital Projects
- Provide expertise for project planning.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams and contractors for project execution.
- Plan and manage shutdown work.
Mentorship and Leadership
- Promote and adhere to Drax Safety Program.
- Mentor Electrical Apprentices.
- Maintain various facility equipment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Performing routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and equipment.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues.
- Installing, maintaining, and upgrading electrical systems.
- Ensuring compliance with local electrical codes and safety standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Red Seal Certified Trades Professional.
- 5+ years of electrical experience, preferably in pellet, particle board, or fibre board industries.
- Journeyman apprenticeship in the electrical trade.
- Strong knowledge of electrical practices and codes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated and adaptable to change.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Flexible schedule availability for on-call support.
