Also known as Earth Science, Geology is the study of the history, materials and processes of our planet, including volcanic eruptions, landslides, earthquakes and floods. Geologists can help guide the safe and stable development of new structures and communities, and are able to locate minerals, natural gas, oil and other things that we use in our everyday lives. 

Geological technicians work outdoors in some of the most beautiful – and remote – places on Earth, collecting and identifying samples of rocks and minerals and prospecting.

You’ll study the physical and social features of the earth, and examine people’s relationships with natural and human-built environments. Geography bridges the natural and social sciences, spanning a variety of fields, such as economics, urban studies, policing and law, earth sciences, biology and environmental studies.
