The Trades Discovery programs are designed to allow participants extensive access to the available trades and technical training. These highly practical and relevant training programs prepare participants to successfully enter and complete trades/technical training or seek apprenticeship.
This hands-on program will take place mostly in a shop environment allowing you to gain practical trades experience. You will work on a variety of projects under the guidance of Red Seal instructors, in CNC's state of the art trades training facilities.
In this course students learn safe work practices, trades terminology, basic hand skills, safe use of tools and equipment, a general working knowledge of the trades and the path to an apprenticeship and a career in the skilled trades. After an Intro to Trades program our students have a better sense of which skilled trade appeals to them, what the prerequisites are for further training and what the path looks like to work opportunities.

Learn the safe and effective operation of the Rubber Tire Backhoe. Throughout the 3 weeks of training, students will receive 50 hours of machine operation shifts as well as online instructional theory.
The Pre-Employment Workplace Essential Skills program offers pre-vocational training for youth and adults. The program includes the Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES) to assess the student’s essential skill level and a variety of learning opportunities designed to increase literacy, employability and essential skill levels of people preparing to enter the workforce.
The program exposes the students to aspects of residential, commercial and industrial piping systems in these trades with a focus on developing practical skills.
