The People Obtaining Workplace Employment Requirements (POWER) program prepares students for entry into trades training and employment. Students will learn the essential skills required to begin training in trades programming, including mathematics and science, that a trades person uses every day. They will also learn personal skills in areas of communication, decision making, job search and study skills, common safety requirements, and hand and power tool identification and usage, that will prepare them for entry into a foundation level trades programs.

Millwright Certificate - Foundation

The Millwright Foundation Program consists of 24 weeks of foundation training and a 2 week practicum requirement and will provide the skills required for the student to obtain level 1 technical training. A Millwright is one who dismantles, moves, installs, changes layout, sets-up, repairs, overhauls and maintains all machinery and heavy mechanical equipment, including power shafting, pulleys, conveyors and hoists.

They work from plans and blueprints and install equipment using hand tools, power tools, and hoisting equipment. Millwrights use grinders and lathes to make customized parts and construct machinery foundations.The Millwright Apprenticeship Training Program includes levels 1-4 of the ITA prescribed Apprenticeship training.

Land and Water Resources - Diploma

The Land and Water Resources (LWR) Diploma program prepares students to effectively conserve and repair disturbed land and riparian zones, as well as monitor water quality and quantity. The main focus of the program is reclamation of sites disturbed by industrial development and activity, and the regulations of reclaiming such sites as per the BC Oil and Gas Commission and relevant government bodies.
