The Training Coordinator plays an important role in overseeing and facilitating various aspects of the ITBC Training & Learning Hub Program. This role has been specifically tailored to assist the Corporate Services team with managing training schedules, event registration, tracking attendance, and gathering feedback to evaluate overall effectiveness of training programs. Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary in this role, as the training coordinator acts as a central point of contact for all training-related activities.

Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC) is regarded as a world leader in the development and promotion of authentic Indigenous cultural tourism products and experiences and is actively collaborating with the province in becoming a leading global destination for Indigenous tourism.

We are a non-profit, Stakeholder-based organization committed to growing and promoting a sustainable, culturally rich Indigenous tourism industry. Through training, information resources, networking opportunities, experience development and marketing programs, ITBC is a resource for Indigenous entrepreneurs and communities in British Columbia who are operating or looking to start a tourism business.

ITBC works closely with tourism, business, education, and government organizations to help Indigenous tourism businesses in BC offer quality experiences and actively promote these experiences to visitors and residents.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the program administration, procurement, and contractor relationships.
  • Help facilitate scheduling and coordination of training sessions while actively engaging our stakeholders to ensure programs are relevant and proactively seek improvements.
  • Collaborate with various tourism industry partners and Indigenous communities of British Columbia.
  • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and the ITBC Training program, ensuring consistent and professional communications.
  • Data collection, ensure accurate tracking of participant information and capturing both qualitative and quantitative feedback.
  • General maintenance and updating of the ITBC Corporate Website.
  • General office administration and program collateral management.
  • Adheres to professional standards established by ITBC and successfully meets targets and deadlines.
  • Assist and collaborate closely with corporate communications and marketing team on special projects related to the ITBC Training program.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization and prioritization skills are essential.
  • WordPress skills are an asset.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and basic project management skills.
  • Desire to continually learn new skills and cultures.
  • Strong skillset in Business Administration software; Office365 and/ or GoogleAsana project management software is an asset.
  • Highly organized and motivated

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post Secondary education in Business Administration or Tourism & Hospitality Program or 3+ years experience working in an administrative or clerical role.
  • Experience working with First Nations, and knowledge of Indigenous Tourism communities an asset.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Driver’s license and ability to travel.
  2. Successful Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check.

This successful candidate is a resident in the Vancouver Lower Mainland. Work is based in the ITBC head office located in West Vancouver, BC on the Squamish Nation reserve. The ability to work in a hybrid model will be determined after the probationary period.
