THE OPPORTUNITY

Western is currently hiring for Sawmill Production Labourers to join our operations on Vancouver Island, BC!

Current Opportunities:

  • Ladysmith Sawmill Operation - Ladysmith, BC
  • Value Added Division - Chemainus, BC

  • Unionized wage rates ranging between $26.40 - $29.20 per hour
  • Hourly shift premiums of $0.60 per hour for shifts outside the regular day shift;

Shifts: Monday to Friday – a variety of day, afternoon and night shifts (must be willing to work all these shifts).

These positions are considered safety sensitive, all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All employees will start in general labour or cleanup positions, and then progress from there into a variety of roles including machine operators;
  • All employees must maintain a safe and clean work area;
  • Supporting other areas of the operations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience 

  • Previous experience in a safety-sensitive environment (trades-related or industrial) is preferred, though not required. We are willing to train individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn;
  • First Aid/WHMIS certification is an asset, with preference given to candidates who hold OFA 3.
