THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you a certified trades person looking to join a “best in class” maintenance team? Western Forest Products is hiring for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Ladysmith Sawmill Operation located in Ladysmith, BC.
What We Offer:
- This is a PPWC unionized position with a wage rate of $45.84/hour as per the collective agreement
- Hourly premiums of $0.60/hour on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift

Shifts: Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday.
This position is considered safety sensitive, the successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate and follow westerns health and safety program and policies;
- Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical on mobile fleet;
- Work with dealers/vendors on maintaining inventory on critical components of equipment;
- Perform minor welding repairs on equipment;
- Ensure equipment repair log books are up to date and accurate;
- Maintain a organized and clean shop;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Must be a fully ticketed Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician;
- All applicants must have a valid BC driver's license and be able to provide a driver's abstract.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
- Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast sawmill equipment (forklifts, boom boats, skid steers and log Loaders);
- Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills are a benefit;
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision;
- Excellent safety record and strong work ethic;
- Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills;
- Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving, and a desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement;
- Accountable and dependable.
