La-kwa sa muqw Forestry, a partnership between Western Forest Products and the member First Nations of the Nanwakolas Council, is currently hiring for a fully qualified Boom Boat Operator at our Kelsey Bay Dryland Sort in Sayward, BC. 

*$3000 Signing Bonus Available*

Shifts: This position is currently on a 6x3 shift, 6 days on and 3 days off, 8.6 hours per day.

This role is considered safety sensitive, all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strip boomstick booms, and sort boomsticks (good, culls or shorts);  
  • Inspect gear – remove gear that is worn and place on appropriate float for removal;  
  • Operate a boom boat to sort bundles by sort identification tags or paint into the appropriate alleys;
  • Swifter booms prior to towing destination;
  • Cut down booms to be re-sorted.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience 

  • Fully qualified in all aspects of the job with minimum 2 years of experience in BC Coastal Logging;
  • Preference may be given to the applicant holding a valid OFA Level 3 Certificate.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

  • Experience in stowing bundles, swifter, running auger, building stiff legs and standing booms/ building sets is desirable;
  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic.
